Osborn 1: Spinal Cord Injuries - Acute Admissions

Osborn 1 is a 22 bedded ward for the care of patients in the acute and/or early stage of spinal cord injury. The aim of our care is to optimise our patients’ rehabilitation. The ward team aim to foster a friendly, relaxed and positive environment where you and your relatives feel comfortable and can form good relationships with the health professionals caring for you.

The multidisciplinary team will help you make the most of your recovery. You will work with your team to improve your skill and confidence in managing your condition. You will start learning how to care for yourself, either independently or with the support of others and we will guide you through this process.

Your journey is also likely to include a move from ward Osborn 1 to Osborn 3 to continue your rehabilitation, prior to your discharge.

Ward Round – On Tuesdays there is a weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting to discuss each patient in which patients are encouraged to take part. A shorter ward round also takes place on Fridays.
